Angelus Oaks
The Lodge at Angelus Oaks: One day I got a letter written in silver ink and very big, childish handwriting, and signed with paw prints by Jake Dog and Sadie Dog. They were writing to tell me about this wonderful place, which they call "a hidden secret."
Jake and Sadie are very smart dogs, indeed, because The Lodge is one terrific place to stay with a dog. The Lodge is made up of several homey wooden cabins and is set on some prime acreage in the San Bernardino National Forest. It was built in the early 1900s as a stagecoach stop for pooped-out travelers, and it really hasn't changed much since. Each of the 12 cabins has a kitchen, bathroom with shower, and one or two bedrooms. The main lodge/office is very cozy, with a stone fireplace, a library, and an antique billiards table. But what dogs dig most about The Lodge is that it has lot of fun things to do outside. There's a snow play area (in winter) and a horseshoe pit and other fun non-snow recreational opportunities. Best of all, the San Bernardino National Forest is everywhere. Some prime trails start just a short car ride away.
