Regional Guide:
North-Central Colorado
WINTER SPORTS
Less than an hour's drive from Boulder, some of the country's best snowshoeing is calling your name from Brainard Lake. Enjoy the beauty and grandeur of the Indian Peaks as you traipse through this frozen wonderland.
Beat the crowds at Rocky Mountain National Park by going in winter. Get further away from other smarties like you on the nordic ski trails in the park.
Beginning in late fall and extending well into the spring, people from around the world come to Colorado for fast runs and fluffy powder. Check out all of your options with the Colorado downhill roundup.
Take a winter day hike in the park. Stretch your legs on a six-mile loop trail by combining The Pool and Cub Lake Trails. Check conditions before you go. Skis may be necessary.
Try your hand at winter camping. One of the joys of wilderness travel is attempting comfort in any conditions. While there are networks of huts in north-central Colorado, constructing an old-fashioned igloo or setting up a four-season tent in deep snow offers a certain pleasure that cannot be known except by experience.
