The best way to explore Mexican coastal wildlife? Sea kayak the Baja coast. Quietly paddle alongside sea lions and dolphins while frigate birds and blue-footed boobies dive-bomb the waters for food. And from mid-December to mid-April, keep an eye out for the whales that make Baja their winter home. During the day, cruise the rocky coast and explore hidden canyons and sandstone cliffs, with the Sierra Gigantes looming overhead. Then set up camp on the sandy inlets that line the coast and jump in the water for world-class snorkeling. Never kayaked before? Not to worry: This ancient craft has been updated for easy paddling — anyone can do it.
