Moyie River
The Moyie River makes a good spring run for intermediate to experienced boaters. The whitewater is consistent and fast-flowing, dropping 30 feet a mile through a cedar forest. That means non-stop intermediate whitewater through a short May and June season. The rest of the summer the river is too low to float. During the peak the Moyie is a fun class II-III, divided into two stretches. From Copper Creek to Meadow Creek, the Moyie is a class II canoe run, with shallow and rock-filled rapids and riffles. Below Meadow Creek, the river enters a canyon containing two class III rapids. The old Eileen Dam, breached on the left, forms the first rapid. The other rapid is called Hole-inthe-Wall. A gravel road runs along the length of the river, but most of the lower run is hidden from view.
Camping is permitted at the following sites: Robinson Lake (10 Units), Meadow Creek (23 Units), Copper Creek (16 Units), Bonners Ferry.
