Nassau River

Access at Route 17 bridge south of Yulee. The largemouth bass, bluegill and redbreast sunfish fishing is limited; however, the river offers excellent striped bass fishing from December through May. The best bait is live eels fished near bridge pilings or submerged trees and saltwater deep-diving lures on falling tides.

St. Mary's River

Access at Boulougne, Macclenny and Hilliard. The river offers largemouth bass, bluegill and redear sunfish. The river also offers excellent fishing for small bass. The best baits are topwater lures and small black or purple plastic worms fished near fallen trees. The peak season is February through September. Redbreast sunfish are the most abundant game fish in the river. Small spinners, live worms and small grubs are most productive when fished near shoreline cover. The best fishing is from March through September. Bluegill fishing is limited but good catches are reported. Use the same method as for redbreast.

Thomas, Mills and Boggy Creeks

Access is Nassau Wildlife Management Area off Route 200 west of Yulee. These creeks offer excellent largemouth bass fishing. The best baits are small topwater lures and purple, black, grape and blue plastic worms fished around submerged trees and stumps. The peak season for trophy bass is January through April.

Redbreast sunfish and bluegill fishing is good. Fish with live bait (worms or crickets) near underwater trees and stumps. The best season is March through September.
