While lighthouses and sand-dune seascapes dominate the tourist shops, there's a bustling outdoor community here as well. Ride along the hundreds of miles of state-maintained road-biking paths, sea kayak in high seas or in calm sounds, hang glide where the Wright brothers first got it right, surf some of the best east coast breaks, and bird-watch on this popular Atlantic Flyway stop. There's more to do here than sit on the beach, though that option is always available and usually welcome.
