Cumberland by Canoe - Past old hills and lonely hollows on Kentucky's biggest river system.

Kentucky Trout - This section of the Cumberland River system is the state's premier fishery for trophy trout.

Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail - The 268-mile trail that runs north to south through the Daniel Boone National Forest. The trail begins in Pickett State Park, Tennessee and ends just past Morehead, Kentucky.

Cumberland Gap National Historic Park - A major break in the Appalachian Mountain chain, the first avenue for settlement of the West.

More premier whitewater on the Red and the Rockcastle rivers.

Daniel Boone National Forest - The Daniel Boone National Forest combines rugged wildlands and ready civilization. Interesting small towns, comfortable state park lodging and a great recreation infrastructure make this a tip-top forest for adventuring.

Red River Gorge Geological Area

Big South Fork Recreation Area - Less crowded but just as rugged as the Smokies, Big South Fork NRA straddles the border of Kentucky and Tennessee. It is a first-class playground for whitewater paddlers, mountain bikers, and hikers.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park - A bass-fishing and boating Mecca on the northern edge of Daniel Boone National Forest's Redbird District.

Carter Caves State Resort Park - Up in Kentucky's northeast corner near Ashland, Carter Caves has great foot trails above and below ground, and it's also the state's only trophy bass-fishing lake.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park - Near Corbin in southeast Kentucky, this waterfall is known as the"Niagara of the South." Good hiking and fishing.

General Burnside Island State Park - A 430-acre island surrounded by 50,250-acre Lake Cumberland. The 94-site campground offers vacationers a home base from which to explore cool, secluded lake coves.

Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park - Near London in southeast Kentucky, Daniel Boone State Park offers historic hikes and a large campground.

Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Hiking, camping, and one star attraction—a giant natural sandstone arch. About 7-1/2 hours from Atlanta.
