So you want to go to the most remote corner of the country? Then head for Kohima, the capital of Nagaland in the far northeast. This remote area of India has only opened for tourism in the last few years, so visitors are still rare and there's lots of untouched land to explore, such as the remote Dzukou Valley. You're unlikely to come across any headhunting, but the Naga people still follow a traditional tribal lifestyle. Tourist facilities are basic, but you'll always find somewhere to stay. Access to Kohima is generally from Dimapur in western Nagaland.
