What a great combination: One of Tanzania's most beautiful wilderness areas is also one of its least visited. The Udzungwa Mountains National Park in south-central Tanzania offers several hiking trails over the pass, and you can hike from one to three days. Guides are available (but not mandatory). The park also serves up great biodiversity, and a number of species such as the rare Iringa red colobus monkey are found here and only here. Don't miss the Sange waterfalls or the trek up the highest peak in the park, Luhombero. There are campsites within the park, but bring everything you'll need. The park is accessed by local pickup from Mikumi.
