Bob Newman
Bob Newman has been flyfishing since he was ten years old and is now one of the pre-eminent authorities on the sport— having been a teacher, practitioner and writer on the subject for most of his life. In his latest book, North American Fly-fishing, he offers the most comprehensive volume ever written for successfully pursuing game fish on this continent. He describes the characteristics, appropriate tackle and fishing techniques for catching 28 different species— weaving commentary from top guides with his own extensive experience. He also offers information on tackle, guides, fish conservation, and includes a select list of the finest fly-fishing outfitters on the continent.

Aside from North American Fly-fishing, Newman has written over a dozen other books, including Survival in the 90s, a backcountry guide for outdoor enthusiasts. His latest book, Flyfishing Structure, will be released next November by Sycamore Island Books. He has written thousands of articles in national publications like Field and Stream, Salt Water Sportsman, and the Sportfishing Report, and has taught catch-and-release techniques at L.L. Bean. Bob lives in Colorado, and hones his technique on the Big Thompson River and the streams of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Newman was a GORP guest while we featured an excerpt from North American Fly-fishing on our home page.
