GORP Guests Scott McMillion - Grizzly Authority GORP Guest from Sept. 18 - Oct. 2, 1998
 Scott McMillion (and Mooch) |
Writer and world traveler Scott McMillion searched Alaska, the Canadian Rockies and Montana's Continental Divide for stories of recent grizzly bear attacks for his book Mark of the Grizzly. His graphic descriptions of human-bear encounters make exciting reading, but they are not for the faint-hearted.McMillion's intent is not to sensationalize bear attacks or to frighten people away from bear country, however. He devotes thorough attention to humans' impact on the magnificent wild creatures and their habitats, to national park policies, and to the lessons learned in each incident.
McMillion has lived in places as diverse as New York City, South Korea and Antarctica. He returned to his native Montana in 1988, where he serves as environmental reporter for The Bozeman Chronicle. His envrionmental writing, investigative reporting and humor have appeared in The Denver Post, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle and other publications. He lives in Livingston, Montana with his wife and daughter.
Scott was a guest on GORP in October of 1998. You can read the answers to the questions he received by viewing the Scott McMillion - Grizzly Authority thread in GORP's Campfire forum.
