Platypus Thunderhead Hydration Pack
By Dan A. Nelson

Platypus Thunderhead Hydration Pack
Platypus Thunderhead Hydration Pack
Water is the stuff of life, and the Platypus Thunderhead Hydration Pack is an effective, affordable way to keep the"life" flowing when you're dying of thirst. At the heart of the pack is the Big Zip, a three-liter variation on Platypus's collapsible and virtually indestructible bladder. At one end of the bladder you'll find an ingenious watertight, zipper-lock opening perfect for dumping in ice, flavor powders, etc. as well for giving the innards a good scrubbing every now and then. At the other end — the business end — sprouts a long drink tube capped with the Duck-Lips bite valve. This drip-resistant valve is one of the easiest to use on the market.

The Platypus Thunderhead pack fits snugly between the shoulder blades, with well-padded shoulder straps and a 1-inch webbing belt to hold the pack firmly in place, whether it's being worn while hiking, mountain biking, or trail running. The tough nylon pack has 550 cubic inches of interior space, and the large bungee-lace pocket on the back can hold a bike helmet, inline skates, or a fleece jacket.

Price: $75
