Gear for Four-Legged Hikers
Ruff Wear WAG Bag
By Dan A. Nelson

I admit, luggage for dogs sounds like an absurd idea, but if you've ever sweated every detail to make sure none of your vital backpacking gear was left at home only to discover at the trailhead that you've completely neglected Bowser's needs, then you might think otherwise.

Water break with a WAG Bag

With a Water and Gear (WAG) Bag, doggie essentials are always close at hand. The WAG Bag keeps toys, treats, water and food bowls — as well as water and food — organized and easy to access in your car's trunk.

At first glance, the WAG Bag looks like a routine duffel bag. A couple features, though, elevate it into a class all its own. The coolest of these is the bag's integrated water system, which features a collapsible water bladder contained in its own special interior pocket. A spigot protected by a small zippered port on the bottom corner of the bag allows for easy pouring.

The WAG Bag is sewn from tough nylon pack cloth and features a zippered main compartment with two exterior pockets — one large mesh pocket useful for drying wet items — and two more inside. The bag also sports a removal inside pocket/pouch. All told, you get 910 cubic inches of storage space.

Price: $65
