The Canyons Resort is hoping that a $500-million expansion and improvement plan will help it compete with its swanky neighbors around Park City, Utah. No longer a refuge for frugal skiers hoping to avoid pricey Park City Mountain and Deer Valley, The Canyons has raised lift-ticket prices and increased skiable acreage. Much of the new acreage is intermediate and expert terrain that was previously accessible only by hiking through the backcountry. Now you need only board the new Dreamscape quad chairlift to access this part of the mountain. Other additions to The Canyons include the opening of ski-in/ski-out accommodations at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel.
