The Rain Wear: EMS Thunderhead Jacket and Pants
![]() |
There's a world of comfort between waterproof and water resistant. Try walking through a downpour in the latter, and you'll quickly realize that emphasis weighs more on water than resistance. Luckily, the people at Eastern Mountain Sports know that worlds of difference just won't do—especially in deluge conditions. Enter the Thunderhead series. With relaxed designs crafted specifically for men and women, these rain jackets and pants protect you from water without making you feel like you're wearing a poncho. The System III membrane wards off the wet stuff, while easy-access pit vents in the jacket and side vents in the pants help to dispel any interior moisture. The jacket features a roll-up hood, waist pockets, Velcro cuffs, and a drawcord waist; the lower half of this inspired equation has fully taped seams to block out water, an elastic waistband with drawcord adjustment, and articulated knees. Independently, either will keep that region dry as a bone. Taken together, you're ready to brave month-long monsoons.
