Silverton Mountain
WHITE OUT: Big mountain majesty in Silverton, CO (Aaron Brill/Silverton Mountain)

Big Mountain Ski Performance Camp at Silverton Mountain, CO (March 5–10)
This new clinic from the world-class North American Ski Training Center (NASTC) digs into the infamous Silverton Mountain steeps with instruction on making the most of this remote ski area's pure and plentiful backcountry powder. Targeted to the advanced, aggressive off-piste skier (levels 8 to 9), this course includes four days of on-mountain instruction plus guiding to some of the best, untracked runs in the Lower 48. Silverton's single lift drops skiers off at an elevation of 12,300 feet; those attendees willing to hike up the lung-busting 1,187 feet to Storm Peak, which tops out at 12,437 feet, reap the bounty of epic San Juan Mountain views and a 3,000-foot vertical descent. After the lifts close, NASTC experts will host après-ski indoor clinics covering topics such as biomechanics, ski tuning, and modern ski technique. An optional NASTC take-home V1 digital coaching tool is available; it provides an online video clip of participant's training sessions, complete with voiceover critiques and tips from instructors. Five nights of lodging plus four days of instruction and lift tickets (plus a few meals) are included ($2,595 double; $2,795 single; www.skinastc.com).

Ultimate Grooves Women's Telemark Clinic at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, CO (February 2–3)
Female freeheelers can revel in these one- or two-day clinics designed specifically for them—and explore Crested Butte's funkiest terrain with two-time National Telemark champ Heather Paul. Ultimate Grooves lays down instruction for all levels of telemark skiers, even beginners. With nine seasons of Ultimate Grooves clinics under her belt, Paul says she has hosted hundreds of people, from ages 13 to 75, including total newbies. "Even my mom came and really nailed it; she is rippin' now," says Paul. The K2-sponsored workshops focus on developing and honing the power, grace, and determination it takes to telemark. They also encourage support, camaraderie, and goal-building among women—and "getting in touch with the greater groove that is life." Yoga and massage are also available to complement on-slope instruction. Clinics include one day of instruction and K2 demo gear ($99 to $300 plus lift ticket; www.ultimategrooves.com).
