The Buccaneer, run by the Armstrong family for three generations, spreads across 340 landscaped, tropical acres that include an 18-hole championship golf course, two pools, three beaches, and 138 rooms in a variety of buildings set around the property. The main restaurant and lobby sit atop a hill with sweeping lawn and sea views.

The hotel has been rated among the world’s top resorts by just about every publication that does such rankings, and with good reason. Going to the Buccaneer is like visiting family in paradise—the Armstrongs warmly welcome guests of all ages and provide top service plus a host of amenities including an eight-court tennis center considered one of the Caribbean’s best.

Why Families Love It:
Families are at the heart of this resort, and many come back year after year. Family Cottage Suites, available only to families with children, provide plenty of room with two bedrooms, a spacious patio, and a lawn where children may play. From May to December families can also obtain a second room at 50 percent off the regular price. The resort’s complimentary kids’ camp, for ages four to 12, runs year-round from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Activities include beach games, crafts, yoga, swimming, and nature walks, and even children under four can join in the fun if supervised by a parent or babysitter. Guests have complimentary use of kayaks, snorkel gear, and beach toys. Ages ten and older may attend free scuba classes. Take advantage of the Buccaneer’s location to sign up for a day sail to snorkel Buck Island National Monument.

Special Events & Activities
Don’t miss the weekly Crab Races, a Buccaneer tradition, Mondays at 5:00 p.m. Soldier crabs are placed in numbered lanes and guests young and old guess which crab will cross the finish line first—spurred on by a lot of whooping and hollering from the audience.
