GORP Travel Expert: Kim Grant
Biography
As the author of almost 45 travel guides, and a photographic contributor to as many, Kim Grant epitomizes the peripatetic travel writer. On any given week, Kim can be found scouring Hawaii's islands, Boston's neighborhoods, Santa Fe's dirt roads, New England's backroads, or Cape Cod's seashell lanes. The current eighth edition of Cape Cod: An Explorer's Guide remains the region's best-selling guide. Kim favors hanging out at Aman Resorts and Kohala Coast resorts as much as "glamping." And for the Away Network, she specializes in discovering luxury properties, romantic resorts, and beach getaways. She credits her creativity and productivity to tai chi chih, and even when she's sitting still, she divides her time between San Francisco and New Mexico. When she's not writing, Kim is hiring hundreds of other writers as the acquisitions editor for Sutro Media, an iPhone app company, and Countryman Press, a division of W.W. Norton.
