Where can we camp near san antonio

We are going to a WWII reunion the beginning of September in San Antonio, TX. Looking for suggestions as to where we can camp with our 20' trailer. Last time we were in TX, I remember the state offered no discounts at all, AARP, AAA, etc. We have evernything including America the Beautiful Senior Pass. Looking for BLM, COE, NP, SP. I've sent for info, but it hasn't arrived yet. And to me, half the fun of traveling is the planning. ..... .

Guadalupe River State Park certainly seems like a good choice, though it's a bit of a hike (40 miles) to get down to San Antonio. Up in that same area, Potters Creek Park on the north shore of Canyon Lake is another facility that can accommodate trailers and RVs. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, you can make reservations via this link: http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/canyon/ (though they only take bookings up to six months in advance, so you'll need to wait to reserve). Closer to San Antonio, there are a handful of RV pads for rent at both Calaveras Lake and Braunig Lake (both of which are owned by CPS Energy). You can find telephone numbers for inquiries and bookings at the this link: http://bit.ly/Aq3HDW. Perhaps give them a call now and you'll be early enough to snag a spot. Good luck!

Good stuff. You might also want to check out the RV camping at Leisure Resort on the San Marcos River (http://www.leisurecamp.net/). Looks like a nice spot. Depending on your eventual plans, there's also some RV resorts up in Hill Country around Bandera, which is about an hour's drive from San Antonio. It's a pretty area, which lots of nice shaded swimming holes and riverside walks. (Fact is, best thing I found out about San Antonio was getting out of town to drive up to Bandera; not a huge fan of San Antonio, myself.) Downtown Bandera has also good a quirky cowboy vibe, with saloons and diners mixing it up with posher art galleries and leather-good stores. A bit further west, about 1.5 hours from San Antonio, Garner State Park looks like another nice spot, though maybe too much a hike for your reunion.

Thanks, I'll check these out. We still don't have an itinerary for the reunion, so we don't know where the events will be held and what we want to do . We're also having a family reunion, and everyone else is hoteling it. I prefer my own bed, my own cup of tea and sitting under a tree, listening to the birds, than sitting at a pool sipping an umbrella drink!
I'm sure as we start to make definate plans, I'll have more questions.
Again, thanks for the info
